I built this cake stand out of red oak for the wedding of some of our very good friends.
I started by building the inner trunk then laminated additional pieces to start creating the roots. Once I had everything built up that I wanted, it was time to start hand carving it to create the actual tree shape and bark texture. I think it came out real nice, and they still love it. It was a beautiful day!
